Web Intern

As our web intern, you'll play an important role in our efforts to effectively manage our website update needs. We're looking for someone talented, passionate about our cause and committed to making a difference.

 

Responsibilities 

Reporting to the web project lead, this position requires:

  • Administering occasional website updates through the Joomla Content Management System (CMS) e.g. creating events and news pages as they happen.

  • Proof-reading, formating and editting content and adjusting graphics.

  • Tracking web traffic using Google analytics and preparing reports for management.

  • Playing a role in creatively evolving the site to be user-friendly, mobile optimized and visually appealing. 

 

Qualifications

  • You're studying web development/web design or a related field, or are a recent graduate, wishing to build your web experience.

  • You're comfortable in all main aspects of Joomla administration. Can learn more on the way.

  • You can write well-structured and elegant front-end code using HTML5 and CSS3 and employ the latest web standards of responsive/adaptive design.

  • You are comfortable coding in JavaScript/JQuery/PHP and working with frameworks such as twitter bootstrap.

  • You focus on pixel-perfect details and organization, and strive to create a user experience that's inviting, intuitive, informative and inspiring.

  • You have a flair in graphic design (typography, colour, layout, composition). Experience with some image editing and graphics designsoftware like Photoshop is a definite plus.

  • You understand common cross-browser issues and are good at resolving them.

  • You're confident in handling common web management tasks without constant supervision.

  • You are familiar with browser debugging tools.

 

Compensation and Commitment

Upon completing a satisfactory probationary period, there will be compensation on an hourly basis. A minimum of 12 months commitment is expected. You will be working on an on-need basis. Please only apply if you are located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is based out of our office in Santa Clara but you will have the flexibility of working from anywhere.
