An engineer by profession, Shaz Imran Bidiwala dedicated her life to raising her three delightful daughters and to volunteer in non-profit sectors. Shaz was introduced to Dian while attending a dear friend’s GiveLight dinner event a few years ago. From that moment, she knew she had to be a part of the GiveLight family.
Shaz does social media marketing by promoting all GiveLight events, including the ones that she hosts. At the annual Global Bistro, she prepares her famous Pani Puris (a popular Indian/Pakistani street snack) for people to purchase; all proceeds go directly to the orphans.
One of her talents is cooking, hence, from time to time, she teaches cooking classes to benefit GiveLight in which participants donate a certain amount to GiveLight while learning to make and then eat the delicious dishes. She also hosts her themed annual GiveLight dinner events – guests must dress up according to the particular theme of the night and are asked to make a generous donation to GiveLight.
This year, she celebrated her 50th Birthday by honoring GiveLight. Pink, gold or black were the colors for the theme of the birthday extravaganza. For presents, she asked her guests to donate money to GiveLight. With a total of 50 guests, she was able to raise over $2300 for the orphans. With so much food, fun and flair, she and her guests had a great time while benefiting a wonderful cause. Her hope is to bring people and communities together through food, fun and laughter. She strongly feels that “if you are going to party, party with a purpose!”
Currently, Shaz resides in the bay area with her husband and daughters. She is pursuing her teaching credentials. As soon as her youngest daughter is college bound, she hopes to start teaching math. She also would love to travel to all the GiveLight homes to meet and teach the children.
