Campaign Noordeen

Campaign Noordeen was launched with the birth of GiveLight Foundation. The goal of this campaign was to create awareness about Project Noordeen for building an orphanage in Aceh, Indonesia for the Tsunami orphans.

The idea to build an orphanage was born in Januarry 2005. After Noordeen family donated the land in Takengon, Central Aceh, Givelight Foundation was officially established in February.

Dian Alyan, Founder left for Indonesia in March to oversee the project execution and explore partnerships with local NGOs. Campaign Noordeen was launched to create awareness in the Bay Area community and by April end, GiveLight Foundation already reached the initial goal of $50K

Construction began with the ground breaking ceremony in May and by end of August the Noordeen Campaign met its target of raising $150K

This was GiveLight Foundation’s first ever, overwhelmingly successful campaign. With full funding for the orphanage secured, the building was completed on schedule  by November 2005. It became home to 50 orphans by the first anniversary of the tragic Tsunami that had left them homeless without parents.
