Walk For Syria/Turkey.

GiveLightAnchors 250X188We are thrilled to launch our new project called GiveLight Anchors.

GiveLight Anchors are those who are truly passionate about our cause and whose support is sustained over a long period of time, either through volunteering, advocating/championing for the cause, and/or making financial contributions.

This includes:

GiveLight long time supporters, volunteers in the US, those who have travelled to teach at our home(s), those who have hosted events to honor our children such as birthday parties, weddings, game nights, PJ parties, tea parties, luncheons or dinners, World Cuisine events etc. as well as other unique ways of contributing to GiveLight’s growth (e.g. sponsoring multiple orphans, getting Givelight to be on the list of company matching grant, launching a campaign among friends to raise funds for a specific project such as “Soul to Sole” and “Blanket of Love,”  etc).

The Milestone:

2015 marks 10 years of GiveLight’s operation and we are formally launching the GL Anchors program in major locations where we have established/plan to open a chapter: Irvine/Orange County, Pismo Beach, San Diego, New York, New Jersey, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Dubai, Paris, Jakarta and Istanbul.

The Objective:

To enlarge our circle of influence by broadening awareness through personal story telling by our Anchors.

The Tools:

As an anchor, you will be doing a presentation, which consists of three key components:

  1. Your personal connection to GiveLight.
  2. GiveLight videos – this video features Dian’s personal loss during the tsunami and this video shows our homes, children and their future dreams.
  3. PowerPoint deck showcasing GiveLight’s history, accomplishments, and long-term goals.
  4. Other materials such as brochures, posters, pledge forms etc. can be provided. You can also download the pledge form here.

The Audience:

  1. Your friends and family
  2. Your workplace, private and public schools, Affinity clubs such as Lion, Kiwanis and Rotary, mosques, churches and other houses of worship.

If speaking at workplaces, the focus should be on (but not limited to) companies that match GiveLight through employee matching grants. This list includes:

Adobe, AllState, Applied Material, Cisco, Dell, eBay, Elrepco, ePocrates, GE, Global Impact, Google, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intuit, Juniper, Just Give, Kaiser Permanente, LinkedIn, Mentor Graphics, Microsoft, Network for Good, Nvidia, Oracle, OF Foundation, Orange County Community, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Silver Lake Technology, SEI Giving Fund, Synopsys, Tenet Healthcare, The Benevity, Toyota Motor Foundation, United Way, VMware, Wells Fargo, QUALCOMM, American Express, Salesforce and Yahoo.

We plan to provide quarterly trainings (in person and online) starting February 2016.  If you love public speaking, you too can join the forces to carry the light.
