On December 28th, founder Dian Alyan, had the honor deliver the keynote address at a Public Awareness Event in Capetown.
South Africa is among the most developed country in the whole continent of Africa. However, it has a very high number of orphans at 5 million due to HIV/AIDS and migration from poor neighboring countries.
The event was designed to raise awareness about the state of orphans in SA and centered around the idea of establishing life-long support for orphans by applying the successful GiveLight model of building beautifully healthy and nurturing homes. The unique and blessed event was organized by SEED Initiatives and a team of passionate volunteers led by Nasiera Badroodien. Nasieara had met Dian for a few minutes after Dian gave a talk at a conference in Johannesburg last summer. She took the idea and motivated many volunteers to organize this event. The event was attended by more than one hundred pioneers and activists of CapeTown, all at no cost to GiveLight.
Our team visited a few options for donated land and are working to finalize final approval of our lead option, located about 30 minutes from CapeTown. We are also forming our Management and Operational teams on the ground. These teams will be in charge of executing the project with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Dian and our volunteers also went to visit an orphanage and they spent a wonderful afternoon playing and bonding with the beautiful children. While we are waiting to build our own home we wanted to start finding ways to partner with other organizations who share our love for the children. This was so we can begin to improve living condition of orphans and making an impact in CapeTown much sooner.
We are deeply grateful to our Creator for leading our way to the stunningly beautiful Capetown and for meeting individuals who share our passion. We thank our wonderful volunteers who worked very hard and gave their best to deliver such an amazing event. We look forward to sharing progress on this project in a few months.
