Theme:
Social disparities in the current global, economic, political, and health crises are becoming deeper and more disturbing. Social justice can be broadly defined as minimizing inequalities while maximizing collective welfare for survival, personal, and professional growth. Justice is a universal value that is shared by all religions. The Quran obligates others to establish justice in all aspects of society, stating, “Oh you who believe uphold justice and bear witness to God….” [4:135]
For this reason, we call upon our participants to share ways to address social justice issues that are relevant, locally or globally. During times of adversity and growth, words and speech have always created a platform to empower people. We want our participants to reflect on ways they see an individual’s impact and capacity within their own society. One possible topic could be “why educating children/orphans is important.”
By having our participants think critically about social change in their homeland, we can come closer to empowering our global community!
