What about life inspires you?
Inspiration is something that comes from within oneself, it’s how you choose to see the world around you. Michelangelo stated it perfectly when he said, ‘In every block of marble I see a statue as plain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to the other eyes as mine see it.’ You have to put your heart and your soul into what you believe, and the rest follows.
Why did you choose to volunteer with GiveLight Foundation?
I became involved in GiveLight in March of 2010. I had met Dian regarding an unrelated project I was working on, and somehow in the course of our meeting she convinced me to help out in planning the 1000 Rays of Light Event that was taking place later that year. I was hooked.
How do you help make a difference by doing what you do here?
GiveLight has been a truly life changing experience for me. From working with Dian, to meeting the GiveLight Team, the local orphan children, the opportunities and possibilities that open up with each event we do, it has awoken this desire within me to do more to make a difference in the lives of not only these children, but even those who are around us everyday from our family and friends to strangers on the street.
It has really brought to to life for me the quote by Khalil Gibran, “You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”
