After seeing atrocities committed to millions of innocent Syrian children, we knew we had to act fast and find a way to help. We started our work with Syrian orphans and refugees by visiting and providing them with over 17,500 blankets of love in Istanbul, Turkey. We are now sponsoring education for over 100 Syrian orphans and refugees in Istanbul! Still, our longing to do more has led us to yet another opportunity to help Syrian children – this time in Amman, Jordan.
Dian and three GiveLight volunteers went to visit orphans in their home in Amman. We threw a lunch party with face painting, gifts, theatre and puppet show, popcorn, and cotton candy. Seeing all the kids smiling and dancing with Spiderman and Sponge-Bob characters filled our hearts with joy. Read more about the event here. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon festivities as you can see in the following video.
We also distributed jackets and winter necessities to 550 orphans.
We now have loftier goals. After finding a trusted local NGO - Al Gharaa Foundation - we have started our long-term project to care for 50 orphans at $50/month. Our hope is that with your loving and generous support, together, we can make a difference.
